Sammy Horner - International Desert Songs
** BRAND NEW RELEASE FOR 2009!! **
The songs on this album reflect something of my wanderings.
Not just literally, (hence the ‘international’ part of the title) but also in my head, mind and soul. I have seen and experienced much that makes me wander and wonder.
Life is not neat packages and throws more questions than answers. I spent some time in desert country in the USA and Australia and it got me thinking about what it takes to survive there.
Deserts are not for those who wish comfortable lives, but rather they are places that take work and effort to keep going. Hope is found in a drink of water, a morsel
of food, a place of shelter or even a helper for a while. Despair comes just as quickly and fear, doubt and struggle are constant companions. It is a messy place; one does what he can to survive.
New peril and trouble can be behind any rock at anytime. Things do not go to plan, circumstances change and all you can do is keep trying and going.
So, with no particular musical theme in mind I wrote whatever I was feeling, and it was messy, but hope came in the shape of many helpers who brought their own gifts and abilities to this album.
I am grateful for their drinks of water, morsels of food, places of shelter and their help.
Sometimes, we all need a helper to drag us through.

Sammy Horner - New Stuff For Christmas

Christmas albums are traditionally full of carols or songs about snowmen and Santa. I have to admit to loving those albums and have considered making a Christmas recording for many years. I tried to read the old story again and found that the gift was worthy of celebration, but the story is one of poverty, homelessness, infanticide, doubt, search, journey, hope, grace and salvation. So as you listen, may your Christmas be merry and good, but spare a thought, a dollar, some time and a prayer for the other aspects of Christmas…things have not changed much in our 21st century world…

Sammy Horner - Songs For The Sick And Tired
"2006 was not a good year for me. I had somehow managed to get all my sicknesses to come together at one time with a vengance and became very ill. During this period, I began to think and see much more clearly than I had for many a year, it seemed that this time was not the waste many would tell it that it seems to be. I began to write, meet with others who helped, encouraged and wrote with me. Many of the players on this album played freely, and most of them have allowed me to say what a broken, hurting, damaged crew we really were. Broken relationships, broken hearts, ill health, sickness, recovering addicts, confused, worried and tired seemed to be the order of the day...and yet, somehow, we crossed each others paths with a common goal...to make some songs of worth and help for others who feel the same.

"Over the past 20 years or so, I have written a lot of songs... recorded a bunch of them and made demos of a bunch more.
It occurred to me that many of them were love songs, that old and difficult subject that poets, songwriters, authors, philosophers, theologians and all the rest have struggled to put into words.
I was asked if I could gather them all together and frankly I could have made a triple album of this kind of material, but I got together the best of what I have done, along with some duets from great artists and a bunch of demos...
